At UMD, we’re known for offering solution-based services for all material handling needs, focusing on every aspect, from start to finish.
This comes from a true focus on innovation and multi-industry knowledge, which allows
So what does this entail? Broadly speaking, the production process covers every single aspect of every project we do, from concept design through final operation. Each project involves a project engineer overseeing a project team and guiding them through every phase of production while implementing all of our highest-possible standards.
Specifically, the production process can be broken down into four distinct phases:
- Concept Phase: In this initial phase, our engineers work closely with the customer, listening to their specific needs and creating project details, from concept through finished product, that adhere to all specifications. These include application, operating environment, and equipment requirements. It is a detailed planning phase built upon true collaboration that will result in efficient and effective manufacturing.
 - Design Phase: Here our engineers develop a design based on guidelines established during the concept phase. Along the way, new innovations and ideas are often implemented to go beyond the original design, adding to—and improving—the final design specifications, ending with a final engineering blueprint.
 - Production Phase: This involves the construction and modification of the parts needed to assemble the final product. We fabricate each and every component based on exact specifications set forth in the engineering blueprint, then assemble the parts into a working model, and add the finishing applications.
 - Setup and Testing Phase: Once production of the model is completed, it can be rigorously tested using the customer’s actual products. Our team performs a thorough diagnostic and process test on every single part of the product, paying close attention to the structural components and overall assembly of the product.

In the end, this proven process results in material handling systems and equipment that are of the highest quality, and consistently meet clients’ needs and goals.
